Pins and Needles
A Poem About Love
Love is twine wrapped around your finger to help you remember the pain of holding everything in so tightly that your insides tingle. Spille e aghi, my grandmother says -- pins and needles. Let’s entwine ourselves together, every nerve on pins, every vein on needles. I’ll put my blue lips to yours and our love will fill the night with its beautiful unraveling.

This is such a pleasant vignette on connection and intimacy. My favorite metaphor is the invocation of “blue lips”, as though being a part were hypothermic, togetherness the warmth that dispels the cold.
